Timor WWW Dirty Dozen 1940-1949

  • Start price: $3,000.00
  • Closed: Sat 22 Apr 2017, 11:25 am
Listing #: 1303753323
This watch is part of the infamous 'Dirty Dozen' group of watches, 12 watch manufacturers who produced watches for the British Military Officers during WW2.

The movement is running smoothly and keeps perfect time.

The case is in lovely unrestored condition and looks great for a watch this age.

I bought the watch almost 30 years ago from watchmaker Eric Matthews in (what was) Chews Lane in Wellington. It has been stored and never worn since.

This is a great example of one of the Dirty Dozen and will be a welcome addition to anyone's collection.

Questions and answers

A very nice original Timor WWW !!! The general consensus amongst collectors is that the WWW watches were made during 1945 for the British Army and used until the Falklands war . Prior to 1945 the British Army used ATP (wrist watches) and GSTP (pocket watches). Production of the WWW watches ceased in October 1945. s***9 (196 196 positive feedback) 1:46 pm, Mon 17 Apr

Seller Comment: Thanks Stew9. I understood 1949 was the last manufacture date for the 'dirty dozen' but following your information, I'll look into it further. 9:48 pm, Mon 17 Apr
