Sell process tweak for Boxing Day

We've made a small, temporary tweak to the Sell process in advance of Boxing Day activity.

Each year, on Boxing Day we see lots of people visit the site looking for bargains among the Christmas presents that have missed the mark. We want to make these items easier to find.

If you're a seller, you can tag your item as an unwanted gift in the Sell process and it will automatically appear in searches for unwanted gifts.  More...

Trade Me purchases vehicle data experts MotorWeb

We wanted to let you know that we've entered into an agreement to buy Auckland-based business MotorWeb. The deal is conditional, but expected to be completed in the next few weeks.

MotorWeb is an online business that packages and sells motor vehicle information and reports to finance companies, insurers, car dealers and the public. We've had a longstanding business partner relationship with MotorWeb for many years and we're excited to be welcoming the team to the Trade Me family. Category update: dog days are over

Or rather, they're just beginning; we've done what we promised yesterday and made those category changes.

Check out the changes in the Dogs, Digital SLR, Containers, bins & trolleys, Womenswear, and Wheels & tyres categories. We'll be back soon with more clever titles and category updates that will make searching and browsing on Trade Me an even better experience.

Category change: gone to the dogs

It took some convincing to get the boss to approve the title of this post, but it helps describe what we’re working on over the next week. We’re making changes in the Dogs, Digital SLR, Containers, bins & trolleys, Womenswear, and Wheels & tyres
categories. So no, the title didn’t really help, but I’m stoked I could squeeze it past.

Anyway, to the nitty gritty. The key changes this week include:

• Splitting Kennels & doghouses into subcategories
• Splitting Digital SLR into subcategories
• Splitting Containers, bins & trolleys into subcategories
• Adding more Costume subcategories in Womenswear
• Adding several new Maternity subcategories
• Removing the RV/SUV wheels category and moving listings into Alloy wheels More...
